Liverpool boss Rodgers pleased with Lambert performance for QPR win

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was delighted with Rickie Lambert's performance for victory over QPR.

Rodgers was pleased with the forward's contribution throughout the game, especially after watching the No.9 find space inside the penalty area and pick out Coutinho for the opening goal.

"I thought he was excellent," said the Northern Irishman. "He had a good run and made an excellent pass to set up young Coutinho for the first goal.

"We needed that physicality at the top of the field to hold the ball up for us today and I thought he competed very well with the two centre-halves, who were very strong. I thought he did very, very well."
