Liverpool boss Klopp: We must be wary of Southampton captain Ward-Prowse

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits they must be wary of Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse tonight.

The 27-year-old England international needs just one more Premier League goal to reach his personal target of 10 in a season for the first time.

Four of his nine have come from direct free-kicks this season, with Crystal Palace, Wolves, Leeds United and Brighton the unfortunate victims.

"When did Southampton have their last game? 10-12 days?" Klopp asked in his pre-match press conference. "They might lack rhythm but we lose that advantage if we make changes (from Saturday).

“So they are completely fresh. We cannot go there and fall into this game. Southampton are always a really well-drilled team and full of energy.

“They didn't get the results they wanted for a while but it's their last home game, so what would you do if you had lost two or three more times than you would have liked in the last few weeks?

"It's their last home game so they will want to leave an impression before going on their summer holidays. This is a high energy, well organised team we face, who defend well and press like crazy and counter attack with all they have.

"And don't make any silly fouls, because Ward-Prowse shoots the ball from any corner of the pitch into the goal. That's the challenge we face."
