Liverpool boss Klopp warns players after 'absolutely crazy' Man Utd thrashing: Bournemouth have quality

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has urged his players not to be distracted by their historic achievement against Manchester United.

The Reds secured their biggest-ever win over their bitter North West rivals on Sunday when they romped to a 7-0 triumph at Anfield.

Klopp's side are next at the rock-bottom Cherries in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off where they could, at least temporarily, move into the top four for the first time this season after edging up to fifth place and within three points of the Champions League qualification places.

"It was a good moment but being in the middle of the season, the result is only one information I got," said Klopp of the win over United. "The performance is much more important and the three points extremely important. Nobody could have expected it to be 7-0 to us, it was absolutely crazy.

"We are above Newcastle in fifth place, which was an important step. But we have to keep going. Could it be a performance that changes the season? We have to prove that point.

"The other freak result we had this year was Bournemouth at home. If I would be now in the Bournemouth dressing room I would make sure that everyone remembers that and that's the thing we have to change."

While the Cherries are at the foot of the table with 21 points, they are only four points adrift of 15th-place Leicester City, with only six points separating the bottom eight clubs.

Gary O'Neil's men were within seconds of holding runaway leaders Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates last weekend, although they were soundly beaten 4-1 by Manchester City in their last home game.

"They have the quality and have played a really good season in a tough, tough league," said Klopp, speaking to LFC TV. "The fight (to avoid) relegation is mad. Everyone has a chance (to be safe) and that will be really insane until the last day. We know and respect a lot what they are doing there.

"It will be difficult but we have to make sure that we use the performance (against United) and not the result."
