Liverpool boss Klopp urged to try Sakho at left-back

Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor has urged manager Jurgen Klopp to bring Mamadou Sakho back into the fold.

Mellor feels turning to Sakho could work with the France star failing to leave on loan at the end of the window.

“I think the decision by Mamadou Sakho to stay at Liverpool rather than go on loan could open up another option at left full-back for Jurgen Klopp," Mellor told the Liverpool Echo.

“Whatever has happened, clearly something's gone on, and Sakho has to win over the manager, prove his fitness and show he wants to be at Liverpool.

“I think left-back could offer him the opportunity of a way back in. Football can change very quickly and if he can prove his attitude has changed, he can still have a successful future at Liverpool."
