Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick should be Manager of the Year.
Klopp apologised to Flick after being voted ahead of him for the ESPN Manager of the Year award. The Reds coach landed the award after winning the Premier League, the first one for the Anfield outfit, whereas Bayern landed the treble - including the Champions League.
Under Flick, they won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal Cup and Champions League, beating Paris St-Germain in the final.
It was the first time since 2013 Bayern had landed the prestigious European trophy and a feat Pep Guardiola, Niko Kovac and Carlo Ancelotti could not manage.
Klopp said: "I deserve it more than Hansi Flick? No. What I can say I was not involved in the vote!
"I won the FIFA award last year pretty sure cause of Champions League.
"I don't believe in these individual awards for coaches really.
"The moment when someone starts to give awards to coaching staff, like a whole bunch of coaches, in my case we are six, then I will be the first to organise the party.
"As long as I get these things alone I am not very interested to be honest but, anyway, thank you very much for whoever voted for me and sorry Hansi you were probably the right one to get it."
