Liverpool boss Klopp, Robertson delighted with Oxlade-Chamberlain return

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was delighted with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's return for their 5-0 win over Huddersfield.

The 25-year-old had spent over a year on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury in last season's Champions League semi-final against Roma.

But the England international, named on the substitutes' bench, came on for the final 20 minutes replacing Georginio Wijnaldum as Liverpool stormed to the top of the Premier League with a 5-0 win over the Terriers.

"It was nearly heartbreaking when he missed the chance, but you saw him smile," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"He's such a wonderful person. He's a better person than player - imagine that. He's a really good player and as a guy he's outstanding. We're so happy for him.

"The intensity of the league is nearly too much after a year, it's clear we have to manage to carefully. You see him in training and everyone's excited. It was the perfect game for him."

Full-back Andy Robertson, who registered two assists to take his tally to 11 for the season, felt the introduction of Oxlade-Chamberlain gave the team a boost as they went on to score a late fifth.

"I think Chambo gave everyone a lift to be honest," the Scot added.

"The whole stadium got a lift when he came on and we found an extra gear and luckily we got a goal when he came on."
