Liverpool boss Klopp has never seen a bench with as much quality

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is enjoying a clean bill of health among his squad for the first time during his spell at the club.

The German had the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Kolo Toure, Christian Benteke, Daniel Sturridge, Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Allen available to him on the bench during the 2-1 come-from-behind win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Following the game, he claimed that he never had a bench with such quality in his career as a football manager.

"To be honest, I have never had a bench with this quality in 15 years as a manager – this bench was important," Klopp said.

"If you have a bench like this, you know that on the pitch you have a good team, but we needed a good team because Crystal Palace are really difficult to play. We knew it from the first game and now we've taken the points back, I think everything is OK."

"A team with aims and big ambitions, you need a strong bench. A strong bench is 100 per cent fit players on the bench in 100 per cent form and shape.

"That was a strong bench – the first time we've had this. We've had a lot of form and shape on the bench, but never fitness because they've come back after four and five weeks [after injury]. It's a good moment and hopefully it stays like this."
