Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is happy for Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho after WADA were forced to apologise over claims of doping in 2016.
Sakho was still a Liverpool player when the ruling and suspension was handed down before the Euros. He never played for the club again.
"My initial thought was 'finally!'" Klopp said. “We knew for a long time that 'Mama' did nothing wrong. It was a blow. I'm very happy that at least now there is evidence that he did nothing wrong.
“Doping is a problem, yes. But I never really saw it as a problem in football because I've been in it for 30 years and I never came in contact with any kind of problem. And if there is, it's because someone made a silly decision, not because they wanted to improve their recovery time or whatever.
“If you carry the mark that you doped, especially when you didn't, that's huge. So I am very happy that he has got rid of all these things."
