Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp revealed Robert Firmino was frustrated with himself despite proving the matchwinner at Tottenham on Saturday.

The Brazilian had earlier seen one shot cleared off the line and came close with another effort after the break before Liverpool withstood a strong revival from the home side to move 16 points clear at the Premier League summit .

Klopp embraced Firmino after the final whistle with the Reds having extended their unbeaten league run to 38 games.

The manager s said: “When I went to him to give him a hug after the game, he said to me 'I know I should have scored more goals'.

“That's absolutely not what I wanted to say!

“But he should have. The first chance was brilliant play but he somehow hits the player.

“A super player, not the first time I've said that and hopefully not the last. Pretty impressive."
