Supporters were left concerned on Thursday when the £75million Holland star failed to train alongside his team-mates ahead of the biggest game of the season so far.
But Klopp has revealed that Van Dijk's absence was nothing to do with an injury after he returned to his homeland to have lunch with the Dutch Royal Family.
"Virg was for other reasons not here yesterday but is completely fine," Klopp said during his pre-match conference ahead of Sunday's clash with Manchester City.
Klopp also issued a rallying cry to his players - and everyone supporting Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield - as the Reds look to go nine points clear at the top of the table.
"We have to play our best game. Everyone in the stadium has to be in top shape," he said.
"The guys who sell the hot dogs have to be in the best shape! That's what I wish for.
"Before we know if we get something from it, we invest everything."
