Liverpool boss Klopp dismisses 'negativity' over lack of summer spending

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has dismissed concerns over a lack of summer spending from the Premier League champions.

Klopp is unmoved by reactions to the club's business, and opened the door to further signings should they prove possible.

He said: “I don't sense any negativity to be honest but I said it always helps that I don't read all the things you write.

“Maybe the media are kind of negative about our transfer business, I cannot do that. I know all the things that can be said, what will be said, it's always the same.

“I'm now the fifth season here and I don't think you were ever happy with our transfer business apart from when we brought in Virgil and Ali.

“The other years they thought, 'Good but has he proven anything? Is he worth that much?'

“It's a little bit like a theatre every year and I don't feel like a victim of success, I sit here and even if I tried I don't feel that we became champion last year.

“It's too long ago, I'm really not interested in it, it's all about what can we do on Saturday.

“There will be still some speculation until October 6 and maybe longer and that's something we have to deal with and we can deal with, it's not such a big problem.

“Then, we will play the rest of the season because until then we will have had plenty of games. All the rest is just normal.

“It's not that we don't even try to have transfers, we just want to do the right ones, that's it. If we find that and the situation is right then we will do something. If not, then not."
