Liverpool boss Klopp delivers Jones update; responds to Scholes claim

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Curtis Jones will be fit for Sunday's trip to Manchester United.

Klopp has confirmed that Jones is set to resume full training today. The midfielder has missed the Reds' last two games due to a groin issue. Thiago Alcantara continues his recovery from a calf problem though.

"The squad is alright," said Klopp. "We have to see, that's how it is.

"We are only two days after the game [against Atletico Madrid] and we have to make sure that we all get fit again, but they are the typical things. I couldn't tell you now who is 100% available and who is not.

"Just what's clear is that Curtis will train today with us, the full session, that's the plan. He should be in contention. Thiago is not, he was not in training, but he is running, which is a good sign."

Klopp also commented on former United star Paul Scholes' claims that he would be rubbing his hands together at the thought of facing United after seeing their midweek performance against Atalanta.

"I was watching the game and there was not one second where I was rubbing my hands together, I can say that," Klopp said. "There was no reason for it.

"Atalanta caused United problems in the first half but even in that half, United had three clear-cut chances. Second half was a demonstration of United going for it, which can cause problems.

"I'm preparing the team for a tough game against a really good opponent."
