Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits Gini Wijnaldum took the lead ahead of victory over Tottenham this week.

Roberto Firmino's late winner gave the Reds a huge three points to take an early upper hand in the title race.

Before the game, it was one player who caught Jurgen Klopp's eye.

Looking back at the game, the German name dropped Wijnaldum, off contract in June, and revealed how he attempted to get his team-mates going with an impassioned plea before the game.

Klopp said: "I think it was Gini in the dressing room before the Tottenham game. 'Don't let us waste the first half again!', he was shouting."

Wijnaldum's dressing room plea to team-mates shows how he has also become a vital factor off the pitch with his leadership coming to the fore as a senior member of the dressing room.
