Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez remains hopeful of securing Dan Agger to a new contract.

The Danish international has not reached agreement over a contract extension at Anfield, but Benítez said he was confident the defender would extend his career with Liverpool.

"The talks are progressing," his manager added.
