Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was pleased with the show of public support from George Gillett last week.

After defeat to Lyon, Reds co-owner Gillett was quick to declare how pleased the board was with Benitez.

The Reds manager said: "Yes, I think he is trying to be positive, but, I will say again, it depends on the players - how they train and play.

"The technical staff working on the preparations for every single game can make a difference too."
