Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has denied reports he is demanding parity with the Premiership's best paid managers.
Reports suggested he was demanding an increase of £1million a year to £4.5m.
But, ahead of tonight's Champions League game at PSV Eindhoven, they were dismissed by Benitez, who said: "It is simply not true.
"When my agent went into talks with the club, I made it clear to him that money was not the issue," said Benitez.
"The main question is about the length of any new deal. Money is last on the list and I was very disappointed by what appeared. It seems very clear to me that some people are trying to create trouble."
