Liverpool boost as Mourinho arrival at Roma puts Pellegrini future in doubt

Jose Mourinho's arrival at Roma could pave the way for Lorenzo Pellegrini to join Liverpool.

The Portuguese wants to replenish his midfield after taking up the post at Stadio Olimpico.

Pellegrini, 24, is out of contract next year and the club have not removed a £25m release clause in his contract.

The Mirrorreports Liverpool could be ready to pounce on Pellegrini should Mourinho give the green light.

Mourinho is reportedly keen on recruiting players who have performed well for him at other clubs.

This includes Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Nemanja Matic.

In Liverpool's case, Jurgen Klopp is looking for a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum as the Dutchman looks set for free agency.

Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul is being considered by the Reds, and with Mourinho's arrival in Rome, Pellegrini is now another option.
