Liverpool are lining up Porto star Raul Meireles as a replacement for Barcelona bound Javier Mascherano. The Sun says Liverpool have set up a £10.7million deal for Meireles as an instant replacement for Mascherano.
Meireles, 27, one of Portugal's few stars at the World Cup, is already thought to have agreed personal terms.
And he could clinch a Kop deal within 48 hours if he passes a medical.
Manchester United were reportedly keen on Meireles but are unwilling to pay large fees for players over 26.
And Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson wanted to make a swift statement of intent after Argentine anchorman Mascherano finally joined Barcelona for £18m.
