Liverpool are closing in on Fiorentina wing-back Juan Manuel Vargas.

The Peru international has been a long-term target for Liverpool chief Damien Comolli and Fiorentina now appear ready to sell.

Florence sources say Liverpool and Bayern Munich are going head-to-head for Vargas.

Bayern have come forward with an offer of €10m plus the loan of Diego Contento.

Liverpool would instead be prepared to put €13m cash on the table.
