Liverpool ace Suarez buoyed after equalling Uruguay scoring record

Luis Suarez was over the moon to have equalled Diego Forlan's goalscoring record for Uruguay on Sunday.

The Liverpool scored with a delightful free-kick in the 2-1 Confederations Cup loss to Spain and although he could do nothing to help his country take any points from the game, he was buoyed to have reached the 33-goal mark set by veteran Forlan.

"On a personal level it is an honour and a compliment to have reached the same level as Diego in respect of what he has done for la Celeste," the 26-year old told reporters.

"Having scored the same amount goals as Diego, on a personal level, is good but now what we are focused on is performing in the group and our results in this cup."

Suarez has taken just 65 matches to reach his tally whilst Internacional's Forlan, formerly of Manchester United and Atletico Madrid fame, has appeared 99 times for his goals.
