Liverpool ace Milner reveals strange childhood rule from Leeds obsessed father

Liverpool midfielder James Milner says he was not allowed to wear red as a child.

The veteran was raised by a fanatic Leeds United supporting father.

Milner, who was with the Leeds academy before playing 50 games for the club's senior team early in his career, admits it was strange to finally wear red when he joined Liverpool.

Speaking to The Times in 2018, Milner said: "Growing up a Leeds fan, I was never allowed to wear a red T-shirt, my old man never allowed it. Seriously. 'We can't wear red. We're Leeds.'

"It was strange when I signed for Liverpool [in 2015], actually wearing red.

"My dad made a joke about it, saying, 'That's the first time I've seen you in red.'

"I still follow Leeds and want them to do well and still have that same feeling towards Manchester United."
