Liverpool ace Gakpo: Firmino key to my form

Liverpool ace Cody Gakpo has revealed how he received the help of a teammate to settle at the club.

The Netherlands forward had a tough first few weeks at the Anfield club after joining in January.

However, he has since shown improved form, especially in the club's home games.

Asked about his settling in, he stated that teammate Roberto Firmino helped him greatly.

Per Liverpool Echo, Gakpo said: "I have played almost every game in that central position and for me it is just about getting used to that position. I don't know the long-term plan, you will have to ask the manager.

"For sure [Firmino has helped], Bobby is an amazing player and person. He tries to help me where I can and I really appreciate that. I like to be here and having a good time. Obviously the results have not been that good.

"If you don't look at the results, I feel good, the team is great and everybody helped in the beginning and I am looking forward to working hard with the team, improving and winning games.

"I think everyone knows this is a big club and you have to play for prizes. That is the mentality here. This season is not the best at this club, I think everyone can see that but it hasn't changed, we just have to keep fighting and bring this season to a good end."
