LIVE FROM BRISBANE: Leeds boss Marsch responds to Harrison comments; McGinn exchange; Meslier praise

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch insists Jack Harrison is happy at the club following Sunday's 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in Brisbane.

Asked by Australia media after the game if he would be staying at Leeds, Harrison said: "Yeah, we'll see, we'll see."

The English winger has been linked with a big money move to Newcastle United in recent weeks.

Marsch was asked about the comment in the post-match press conference.

He said: "There's always been interest in Jack, like many of our players. But I know that Jack has always been very happy here. And that he's done a really good job. He's a big part of what we're doing.

"There are always possibilities that big transfer offers come in and the club needs to decide how it fits and what are the best options moving forward.

"But for me, Jack Harrison is a big player for us moving forward."

The clash at Suncorp was intense and physical as both Premier League sides gear up for the Premier League season in under three weeks time.

Marsch was seen exchanging words with Villa midfielder John McGinn after the Scotsman's challenge resulted in Archie Gray being stretchered off the pitch.

Asked what was said in the exchange, Marsch said: "I was yelling at the ref and he thought I was yelling at him so I told him not to worry about me and play the game.

"Maybe if the ref gets in control of the match during the game then it doesn't lead to the aggressiveness. But it's normal. It's the Premier League and both teams want to send messages about what they want to do."

Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier was brilliant despite the defeat to Villa.

The Frenchman produced a brilliant double save from Philippe Coutinho's penalty before denying Ollie Watkins in a one-on-one situation with an incredible stop.

When quizzed about Meslier, Marsch added:"Illan is a big goalkeeper with massive potential. He continues to find his presence in the group.

"He's very likeable but we need him to be a real rock in the team. I thought it was a really good game."
