Lippi: Guangzhou still looking for best form

Guangzhou Evergrande boss Marcello Lippi is still waiting for his side to rediscover the form that won them the Asian Champions League last season.

The Italian tactician guided the Tigers to glory in Asia's top club competition as well as the Chinese Super League title in 2013 but he feels they have not been able to hit those heights early in the new campaign.

A double from Gao Lin helped Guangzhou beat Jeonbuk Hyundai 3-1 on Matchday 3 but Lippi feels there is a lot more to come from his players.

"Today it was a difficult game," said Lippi.

"We are still in the process of trying to find our best shape. We haven't managed that yet, neither mentally nor physically, and at this moment the team has to stay united, everyone has to be devoted.

"I'm glad we took the three points, but we are still looking for the best team that we saw last season."

Despite Lippi's slight concerns, Evergrande are sitting on top of the ACL's Group G with seven points from three outings as well as being top of the CSL standings following two wins from two fixtures.
