Lingard: Man Utd capable of Champions League spot...either way

Jesse Lingard says Manchester United are capable of finishing in the top four in the Premier League as well as winning the Europa League this season.

The Red Devils remain in pursuit of a Champions League spot for next season, and they currently have two ways to achieve that – either finish inside the top four or win the Europa League.

United achieved a 1-1 draw against Anderlecht in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final, ahead of Thursday's return bout at Old Trafford, and they currently sit in fifth spot in the league after Sunday's 2-0 victory over Chelsea.

"Yeah, we are capable," he told MUTV when asked if the team can pull off a Champions League spot for 2017/18.

"Manchester United is a big club with history and it expects trophies.

"We have seen the atmosphere behind us and we know we are capable of picking up good results against whoever we play."

Regarding Thursday's second leg against Anderlecht, he added: "We're going to be ready for that.

"You have seen that we can rotate the squad and we will make sure everyone is ready and raring to go."
