Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof says a deeper squad is lifting the players.
Over the summer they splashed the cash on Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £50million and Harry Maguire from Leicester for £80m, and both players have appeared to settled in well at Old Trafford.
Speaking to MUTV, Lindelof said: "We have very good players in the squad and everyone wants to play.
"In the first two games, we've been playing that back five (David De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire and Luke Shaw) and have been performing well but it's hard because you always have to perform well.
"It's because there is always someone there who wants to play but that's part of football. It's very important for us and good for the team to have that.
"It's very important for a team to have competition for places. If you don't have that, then maybe you don't push yourself to the next level. It's what we're doing every day right now and also what will take us to the next level, I think."
