Lincoln boss Cowley floating today after beating Chelsea to reach Wembley final

Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley is floating today after leading his team to Wembley last night.

Cowley admitted it was a dream come true after Lincoln City reached Wembley for the first time in their 133-year history.

The Imps boss was delighted after watching side triumph in a penalty shoot-out against Chelsea u21 in the semi-final of the Checkatrade Trophy at Sincil Bank.

The two sides were locked at one apiece after full time but homegrown hero Lee Frecklington stepped up to guarantee City a maiden appearance at England's national stadium.

Cowley told Lincolnshire Live: “133 years this wonderful club has been alive and they have never been to Wembley.

“I am really proud that we have been able to get there.

“I thought we played really well and deserved to win.

“I thought we pressed really aggressively, brave without the ball and suffocated them. They struggled to get out of their half.

“I have to credit my players as they worked really hard."
