Lewis using Liverpool motivation after Newcastle move

Newcastle United star Jamal Lewis is using Liverpool's full backs as motivation when he plays in the Premier League this season.

Lewis was relegated with Norwich City last term, but he was praised for his performances most of the campaign.

The Reds wanted to sign him, but pulled out over Norwich's demands.

Now he is a Newcastle player, and sees the Reds' full backs as inspiration.

"There are great examples - the two would be from Liverpool, Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold," the 22-year-old told NUFC.

"They are really setting the standard right now with how they play and the aggression and enthusiasm to get forward.

"You see how vital they are for their team. It has helped to highlight how important they are. They are really setting the standards."
