Lewis O'Brien targets MLS move after Forest freeze

Lewis O'Brien is pushing to leave Nottingham Forest immediately for MLS.

The Sun says O'Brien has been left out of Forest's Prem squad after seeing a January loan move to Blackburn ruled out by the EFL despite an appeal.

Steve Cooper's side could heavily fund a temporary switch for O'Brien, 24, with the American market still open.

But that faces hurdles as many clubs have their allocation of foreign players.

Rovers were ruled to have failed to submit the relevant paperwork before the 11pm transfer deadline.

The EFL subsequently rejected their mitigating factors as to why the paperwork was submitted late.

This has left O'Brien in a difficult position.

The central midfielder only joined Forest from Huddersfield last summer.
