Lewington denies he and Hodgson leaving Watford

Watford assistant coach Ray Lewington has denied reports that he and Roy Hodgson will leave the club in the summer.

The Hornets are almost certain to be relegated and reports in England have claimed Hodgson will leave regardless of whether the Hertfordshire club avoid the drop.

"If they ask us we will definitely put in [some consideration]," said Lewington. "But we don't know anything yet as well. You know the situation, we signed to the end of the year and that was going to be it, so we're still in that situation.

"We're going to see it through. Listen, the sides that come up are always going to find it very difficult because there's a massive gap now and people don't realise the gap.

"You can have all your strategies and everything about what you're going to do, but unless you are experienced in going into playing the sides that are in the Premier League, week in week out, it's very difficult."

Asked how big of a rebuild the club needed over the summer, Lewington added: "That's for the the owners to decide.

"I always think in times like this when you've had a bad defeat, big questions like that are the questions that are not easy to answer.

"You need to sit down once it's all done and go away and think about it, which I'm sure the owners will do."
