Lewandowski: I wanted to leave Bayern Munich after being abandoned

Robert Lewandowski admits he felt let down by Bayern Munich at the end of last season.

The Poland international has explained why he wanted to leave Bayern over the summer as he courted interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea.

"In April and May everyone really aimed at me. Nobody from the club stood up for me. In that situation I felt very alone. I did not score in two or three important games and suddenly I was outlawed for everyone," Lewy told BILD.

"Nobody in the club leadership defended me during that time.

"At that moment I did not feel well at Bayern anymore. Everything came together at that time, which made me unhappy."

But Lewandowski has now decided to stay with Bayern.

"I have noticed that the fans are behind me," he says. "I've got the feeling that they want to keep me here. I will never go on strike or find problems with the club in any other way. At the moment, I do not waste time thinking about a switch abroad."
