Leverkusen director Voller urges Bailey to reject Chelsea, Arsenal advances

Bayer Leverkusen director Rudi Voller has urged Leon Bailey to resist the temptation of leaving for a bigger club.

The 20-year-old forward has been scouted by Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal following an impressive first half of the 2017/18 season.

His exploits have garnered nine goals in 18 appearances for the Bundesliga club, including a stunning goal against Hoffenheim on the weekend.

Although Bailey is contracted until 2022, Voller wants him to commit his long-term future to Leverkusen.

"Leon loves this team and he needs his team-mates. He gives it back and that makes him all the more valuable to us," Voller told Bild.

"We would be doing bad work if other clubs were not interested in our players. At Leverkusen, he has the possibility to play in a team which enables such goals as against Hoffenheim."

He added: "We're happy with his development," he said. "We had to sign him in the winter last year because of the threat of losing him to a competitor.

"We had a difficult situation back then, but we were convinced by him and were not afraid of the risk."
