Lescott says Everton players desperate to prevent Liverpool being confirmed champions at Goodison Park

Former Everton defender Joleon Lescott says the players will be desperate to prevent Liverpool from being confirmed champions at Goodison Park.

Should Manchester City slip up against Arsenal ahead of that game, Liverpool could win their first ever Premier League title in the worst way imaginable, as far as Everton fans are concerned.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Football Show, he said: "They are not going to want - if it goes bad for Man City - Liverpool to win the title at Goodison Park.

"That is probably the worst outcome for Everton, so I'm sure the players will be aware of that.

"But it can only hinder their chances of winning without Goodison behind them."

Asked whether he felt Everton would see it as extra motivation, Lescott added: "I think it matters. I think it would be strange to say it wouldn't matter.

"No one wants that to be at their ground.

"We know the inevitable is going to happen with Liverpool but in regards to it happening at Goodison, that would be the worst possible outcome for Everton and Everton fans and players."
