Leicester striker Iheanacho on standby for late Nigeria call

Kelechi Iheanacho is on standby to join Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations after Samuel Kalu collapsed in training on Friday.

Leicester forward Iheanacho was left out of Gernot Rohr's squad after a poor season at the King Power.

Nigerian publication Sports Extra state the striker could head to Egypt after Kalu collapsed prior to the opening match win over Burundi.

"The health situation of Nigeria's player Samuel Kalu is stable after undergoing the necessary medical tests following his fall during his team's training due to a heart muscle failure," the FA wrote in a statement.

"Kalu suffered from dehydration after losing a large quantity of fluids."
