Leicester City signing Wesley Fofana insists he left St Etienne on good terms.
While ASSE coach Claude Puel didn't want Fofana sold, it was eventually accepted he should depart given the club's financial needs.
Fofana told L'Equipe: "If we left on good terms? I sent him a message after my formalisation to tell him that, despite the last few days between us, I do not forget that it is thanks to him that I am here.
"Yes (he answered me), telling me that he wanted to keep me but that he accepts my choice. He is proud of me. It's great. I do not leave angry with the coach. The club has needs and I am leaving them with a lot of money. Everybody is happy. I didn't want to go to war with my training club. It has given me everything since I was 14. I know I can call them if I need to. And vice versa."
