Leicester No2 Davies praises Ward for Cup win

Leicester City assistant manager Chris Davies praised Danny Ward after their 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Burton Albion.

Goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Youri Tielemans saw City take a 2-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes, but Burton halved the deficit early on in the second period.

However, City rounded off the scoring through James Maddison, but not before Ward had to pull off a stunning save to deny Scott Fraser.

“He made one excellent save, point blank – a real reaction save," said Davies of Ward. “It was a crucial save in the game and he came in and played well.

“Obviously, we like to build up the game from the back with the goalkeepers, where they have lots of involvement with their feet.

“He's good at decision making and has good quality on the ball, and that save was a big save. That's what you need your 'keeper to do."
