Leicester City are confident of landing Wilfred Ndidi from Genk this winter.

A report in the Daily Mirror suggests that the Foxes have made an offer of £16million for the highly-rated 19-year-old defensive midfielder.

Belgian club Genk are believed to want closer to £20m for two-time Nigeria international Ndidi but Leicester believe they can agree a lesser fee when the winter window opens.

Claudio Ranieri sees Ndidi as an apt replacement for Chelsea star N'Golo Kante after the Frenchman left the King Power Stadium in the summer.

Leicester signed Nampalys Mendy from Nice but the £13m signing has struggled with injuries since and has been unable to step into the massive void vacated by Kante.
