The forward is enjoying a positive loan spell at West Bromwich Albion.
He has already scored five goals for the club, who are hoping to come back to the Premier League this season. The displays got him an England under-21 call up.
"At the minute a full season is what's been agreed, so at the minute in my head that is what's going to happen, I'm going to be staying there for the season," said Barnes to reporters at England under-21 training at St. George's Park.
"I don't know if anything will change or not, we will have to see. But, yeah, at the minute the plan is to have a full season at West Brom.
"I'm enjoying myself. I don't know what will happen but we will see. I'm enjoying myself so I hope it continues."
