Leicester keeper Schmeichel: From League Two to Champions League quarter-finals!

Kasper Schmeichel quickly reflected on his remarkable career after guiding Leicester City into the Champions League quarter-finals tonight.

Earlier in his career, the former Manchester City goalkeeper found himself in League Two with Notts County, Bury and Darlington but the 30-year-old is now getting set for the final eight of Europe's premier club competition.

Schmeichel saved a penalty in each of the Round of 16 legs, including in the 80th minute at the King Power Stadium tonight to deny Steven N'Zonzi.

He told BT Sport: "Coming out before the game you see the flags and coming out for the game hearing the Champions League song, for a lot of us, we've come a long way.

"I've been down in League Two and to be standing here in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, it's incredible."

On the prospect of their quarter-final draw, Schmeichel added: "I don't really mind. No matter who we get it is going to be a top drawer club."
