Leicester jump ahead of Man Utd in Brooks battle

Leicester City have jumped ahead of Manchester United in the race for Bournemouth winger David Brooks.

The Manchester Evening News says Brooks expects to receive an offer from Leicester in the coming weeks, with United still prioritising a move for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

The past few days have seen an exodus from newly-relegated Bournemouth, with Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson both joining Newcastle. Josh King is now being touted for a transfer to Aston Villa, having been considered by United earlier in the summer before Odion Ighalo's loan from Shanghai Shenhua was extended until January.

Brooks, the versatile 23-year-old, who can play on either wing or in central midfield, featured alongside United's Daniel James in Wales' 1-0 Nations League win over Bulgaria on Sunday.

It is understood that United have considered the Welshman among their options this summer, though he is more likely to move to Leicester given that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Sancho to add to the acquisition of Donny van de Beek. Brendan Rodgers is a huge admirer of Brooks and wants to bolster his attacking options after missing out on a Champions League finish last season.
