Leicester hero Walsh calls for permanent Dragovic deal

Leicester City legend Steve Walsh has urged the club to sign Aleksandar Dragovic on a permanent basis.

The centre-back, who joined the Foxes on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, has had to wait patiently for opportunities as Wes Morgan and Harry Maguire have formed a formidable partnership down the spine.

But Walsh has seen enough to suggest Dragovic would be worth the money to bring in for the long-term.

"You need that strength in depth and I would imagine they will be looking at Dragovic and he has done well since he came in," said Walsh.

"Albeit he hasn't had too many opportunities, he has played well when he has come in.

"He has looked composed and sharp. He is one I would say keep him for the squad and for the future.

"It is hard to find the right centre-halves these days. There are not many about that are available.

"You have to look through the system and look at the academy and the under-23s as well. It is an important role. Your centre-halves are the backbone of the team. It is an important partnership.

"Dragovic does look a strong defender. It is good to see he has come in, knuckled down and not complained when he has not been in, and when he has come in he has done a good job.

"He is one for the future and I would keep hold of him."
