Leicester City fullback Ricardo Pereira has spoken out about his season-ending ACL injury.
The Portugal international has been ruled out for up to six months with ACL damage he sustained in a 50-50 challenge with Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish on Monday.
"I never thought this could happen to me, but surely no one thinks that," he wrote on Instagram on Sunday evening.
"It was a shock to receive the scan result, the injury didn't feel this bad. Nothing I have achieved so far has been easy and the hardest time is yet to come.
"But I have no doubts I will come back stronger, especially with the help of my loved ones and all of you. Thank you for all your messages and support.
"Now it's time to recover well without rush, working the body and the mind. One step at a time."
