Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is overjoyed to see his V9 Academy for football rejects land a first professional deal for one of its players.
The England international, who himself progressed through non-league, has set up the academy along with his agent John Morris with the aim of providing football-rejects with another opportunity.
During a recent trial at the academy, striker Danny Newton managed to get a new deal with League Two Stevenage.
Vardy said: "When John told me that Danny had received an offer from Stevenage, I was buzzing.
"He was one of the first players that we recruited to the academy and he seems to have had a similar journey to myself."
