The Leicester Mercury says with City on the lookout for a wideman during the summer months, reports have emerged that Berardi was one of the players the club were looking at.
It was said that the Italian international, who impressed at Euro 2020, would cost a fee in the region of £35 million.
However, a summer move never materialised with City completing a deadline day loan deal for Red Bull Leipzig winger Ademola Lookman.
But Sassuolo are now ready to sell Berardi during the January window, with the player looking to move on from the club where he has spent his entire career.
TMW also states that the Serie A side will be looking for a fee of around €25-30 million (£21-25.5 million) for the winger, a reduction of over £10 million from the reported asking price in the summer.
