Leicester City are keen to offer Danny Drinkwater a new contract in a bid to keep him away from Liverpool.

The Daily Mailsuggests that the Foxes are prepared to offer the 25-year-old midfielder £80,000 per week so his head is not turned by any potential proposal form the Reds.

Liverpool are showing significant interest in Drinkwater but Leicester are desperate to keep him at King Power Stadium after he played a major role in their remarkable Premier League title triumph.

The former Manchester United youngster is under contract with the East Midlands club until the summer of 2018 but it is understood that Leicester want to extend his stay by two years and increase his wages as reward for his brilliant campaign.
