Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana has explained why he left Saint Etienne last summer.
Fofana has proved himself among the best signings of the season with the new FA Cup semifinalists.
He recalled to the Telegraph: “When Leicester picked me up they pitched their project and I was 100% sure that was where I wanted to go.
"Saint-Étienne did not agree with me. I wanted to leave, they said no. The coach (Claude Puel) didn't want me to go either. Some supporters weren't happy with me. It was really difficult for my family.
"Things were said, but I didn't let that affect me. I built a wall around myself and knew I was making the right decision. They wanted the best for their team, I can understand that."
