Leicester defender Ben Nelson returns from Rochdale loan

Leicester City defender Ben Nelson has returned from his loan with Rochdale.

Centre-back Nelson, one of the highest-rated youngsters in City's development squad and an England Under-19 international, struggled to feature regularly in what was his first spell in a senior set-up. He played in just 10 of Rochdale's 23 League Two matches, making seven starts.

Across those seven starts there were six defeats and one draw, with the Greater Manchester side battling relegation in the fourth tier. He will not get to help them in their battle to avoid falling into non-league though, with Rochdale announcing on Friday that the 18-year-old had returned to City.

There are now two options for City: they either find a new EFL club for him where he may feature more regularly, or they keep him in their development squad to play Premier League 2 football in the second half of the season, says the Leicester Mercury.
