Rodgers worked with Suarez at Liverpool.
He explained: “From the outside looking in I saw Jamie for what he was which was a top class goal scorer.
“He was a focal point of a title-winning team and everyone knows his journey.
“But it is only really when you come in and work with someone that you see the real value close up.
“He is tactically very good and not just a boy who scores goals and runs forward.
“His ability to understand the game from an attacking perspective is very good.
“He will really be the focal point of when we press the game.
“He has real mental strength and loves to train and work.
“You see the strength in his legs and the speed in his game.
“The team then followed and I look at Jamie in a similar aspect.
“He is a fantastic player but he can't do it on his own.
“There have to be 11 players working together and that starts from the front.
“Hopefully he has plenty more goals left in him."
