Leicester boss Rodgers: Why I can't select Maddison

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has concerns about the fitness of James Maddison.

The attacking midfielder was absent as the Foxes were humiliated at home in the Premier League by Newcastle United.

Despite working hard during mid-season, Rodgers and his side were bested 3-0 at home on Boxing Day by the Magpies.

Post-game, Rodgers stated about Maddison, "Sadly, he is not near to playing yet.

“He was out this morning on the grass but he's still feeling pain in his knee.

“I'll speak to the medical team in the morning, and see what the timeline might be.

"It's a different part of his knee, he's had it around the back of his knee and now he's feeling it in the front part.

“So I need to listen to the experts and medical advice and take it from there."
