Leicester boss Rodgers: What I've made of Lookman's form at Atalanta

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has made contact with one transfer target.

After last season's loan, the Foxes manager was eager to add RB Leipzig's Ademola Lookman to his team during the summer. However, budget constraints meant the move was not possible, and Lookman went to Atalanta in Italy.

The 25-year-old has excelled as a second striker, managing four goals and three assists.

“I've been in contact with him and congratulated him," the City boss told reporters on Lookman.

“He's done fantastic. He's performed very well, he's enjoying his time there and I'm delighted for him.

“He was fantastic here, he scored goals, created goals, he worked very hard, all the things you'd want from a young winger. I'm really happy for him because he's a great guy and very devoted to his football. He's started very well with Atalanta."

He added on Leicester trying to sign Lookman late in the window, had he not joined Atalanta by then: “We could never guarantee that.

“I think if we were getting in anyone it was only on loan, and then it didn't happen. Unfortunately it was a deal we couldn't do."
